| The Story of I Love You 'Gin (as told by Leigh) When Chelsea was just learning to speak, back when she was about 18 months or so I would tell her "I love you" and in normal response she would reply "I love you too" and then I would tell her "I love you more". It was sort of a game that we played, an I love you more game. One day as we were playing our "love you more" game I told Chelsea "I love you" and she responded with the usual "I love you too" I came back with "I Love You More" and to my surprise Chelsea responded with "I love you 'gin mommy", meaning "I love you again mommy". From that point on whenever we would play our "love you more" game Chelsea's response after I love you more would be "I love you 'gin". |

| This album was created with love by Chelsea's grandfather V. Wayne Wilkins and a close family friend John Randolph Norman. |
When Chelsea was a small baby, my father told me that he was going to write a song for her. This came as no surprise to me, being that throughout my childhood I'd had many songs written about me as well as for me. I was excited that Chelsea was going to also have the experience of having a song written for her. It's a great honor to be cared about so much to have something written about you, and to come from a family member is even greater. "Chelsea Leighann" as it came to be titled was started while Chelsea was a baby, my dad called me and requested information about Chelsea such as birth weight, time of birth etc. intending to use them in her song. Chelsea never got to hear her song while she was alive. Sadly my father didn't finish it until after she had gone to be with Jesus in Heaven. As a gift to my precious girl, my father sang her song for the first time at the cemetery for her 5th birthday. Her song "Chelsea Leighann" can be heard in it's entirety on the page of our story. John Randolph Norman, is a very special man in my family. He's like a brother to my father, they have been friends for years. My father has written music with him for as long as I can remember. He helped to contribute to the album "I Love You 'Gin" and wrote a special song called "Beside the Garden Wall" which has come to be one of my favorites on the album. My father asked John to write the liner notes for the album, but instead John included this message with the lyrics of the song that he penned. "It is an honor and privilege to have been asked by my brother, Wayne, to take part in this tribute to the girls. Every song in the collection is from the heart and I believe it shows in the final product. I wanted to offer something personal so I wrote "Beside the Garden Wall" as a gift. To me it is a song of encouragement and that is what I hope it brings to everyone who hears it." ~John Randolph So a personal thank you from William, Isabella and I goes out to John Randolph Norman a man who has touched our hearts in song. Thank you John, and we love you. |
