Happy 5th birthday to my
ladybug princess
It was Sunday January 8, 2006 the day before what would have been my daughters 5th
birthday. William, Isabella, and I along with Chelsea's "Grandma" (my mother), "Pappaw" (my
dad), "Pawpaw" Benny and "Grandma" Cathy (William's parents), her "Granny" (my
grandmother), "Aunt" Joyce (a family friend), "Grandma" Glenda (another family friend and
Joyce's mother), Melissa (Chelsea's best-friend and Joyce's daughter), Soltar (a family friend
who never had the privilege of meeting Chelsea), Leslie (a friend of my fathers), and John
Randolph (a family friend who writes songs with my dad) gathered at the cemetery in
Lancaster, to celebrate my daughters life. William and I had purchased cupcakes with small
"princess" rings in the top of them, and buried one at Chelsea's grave. We then stood around,
while my father sang a song that he wrote for her, that started when she was born and was
completed just after she passed away (the song can be found on the "home" page). In honor of
my "ladybug princess" we released 1000 ladybugs into the air and watched them swirl around
us, most of them coming to rest on our bodies. We then released 4 pink balloons, one for each
year of my angels life, and 1 white balloon to symbolize the 1st birthday in heaven. Soltar, our
family friend, slipped off quietly and unbeknownst to me or William penned a beautiful poem for
Chelsea and us. Which I share with you on the Love's Dream page.
